Methodist South has begun construction to expand its emergency department in the Whitehaven facility.
The expansion is a result of a certificate of need awarded to Methodist South by the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency. The $8.75-million project will expand the facility from 9,950 square feet to approximately 22,750 square feet. The project will include larger, more private patient rooms, a larger waiting room and a streamlined admissions area.
In addition to adding more than 12000 square feet, the expansion will include a complete renovation of the existing emergency department, which treats more than 60,000 emergency patients annually.
