Resurrection Health, a faith-based, evangelical healthcare provider offering both adult and pediatric primary and in-patient care, has acquired a medicine residency program formerly hosted through Christ Community Health Services.

The three-year, fully integrated and individually tailored  program, titled Resurrection Family Medicine, was funded through the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program, a $230 million, five-year initiative as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, created to increase the number of primary care residents trained in community-based settings.

Resurrection Family Medicine has the capacity to train 24 residents annually in multiple disciplines along the family medicine and primary care spectrum, including surgery, obstetrics, and emergency and community medicine, among other areas of focus. Residents will train at three area “teaching hospitals” and healthcare providers, including Regional One Health, Baptist Memorial Healthcare and Delta Medical Center, during their time in Memphis. The residency program’s base location will be at Resurrection Health’s current space at Delta Medical Center.

Resurrection Family Medicine welcomed eight first-year residents in July for a total of 22 current residents and boasts 12 physician faculty members plus non-medical staff.
