Methodist University Hospital has been awarded the first ACC/SCPC Process Improvement Pioneer Award during the ACC’s annual meeting for the hospital’s DMAIC Project:  Recognition, Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment of the Low-Intermediate Risk ACS Patient.

Recognizing that there is a nationwide increase in the number of emergency department (ED) visits and patients with chest pain continue to represent a significant healthcare challenge, the project team recognized the need for improvement and developed and utilized this project to improve, optimize and stabilize the care of patients presenting to the ED with low and intermediate risk for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) utilizing a Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC) process.
