The Tennessee Medical Association is training 16 Tennessee physicians representing a variety of medical specialties through its 2017 Physician Leadership Lab.

The 2017 class includes six from the Memphis area.

The Leadership Lab focuses on improving clinical teamwork with a multi-month series of webinars and live group sessions. As part of the program, each participant will complete an improvement project within his or her practice environment, making use of the tools and skills acquired in the program.

The Lab is one of two tracks within TMA’s John Ingram Institute for Physician Leadership. The program is a foundational leadership course covering collaboration, conflict resolution, communication and more over the course of two weekends.

Classes began last month and will run through July. Participants also will receive three months of coaching and consulting on their practice improvement projects.
