The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) has named Will Cromer executive vice president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Mary Layne Van Cleave, who is retiring this year after 23 years with the association.

Cromer comes to THA from a Nashville venture capital firm that focuses on launching tech-enabled healthcare service companies. Previously, he served as deputy director and chief of staff at the Division of TennCare, where he assisted in managing and driving the priorities of the $12-billion Medicaid agency.

Prior to TennCare, Cromer served as Governor Bill Haslam's special assistant for strategy and policy director. In this role, he led the development and implementation of Haslam's policy agenda and served as a key advisor and member of the governor's senior team. Cromer developed legislation, oversaw strategic initiatives, assisted with budget development and served as a liaison to various state agencies and stakeholders, including TennCare and other healthcare-related agencies and organizations.
