Mid-South-based Gastro One has opened IBD One, a comprehensive inflammatory bowel disease center designed to "help patients control their IBD and improve their quality of life."

The centers, which will specialize in treating IBD, opened two locations and began seeing patients last month. Officials at Gastro One say it is the first of its kind in the Mid-South area

A Gastro One spokesperson said "the diseases to be treated here are primarily Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis. The new centers provide a progressive, comprehensive treatment approach to individuals previously diagnosed with these diseases, serve as an urgent care facility for IBD and also provide consultative services for complicated patients. Patients will receive personalized treatments, new strategies in disease management/monitoring and opportunities to participate in the latest clinical trials of advanced treatments.

"The goal is to provide patients with a better quality of life and move towards control and treatments that solve the problem. There will be an emphasis on standardizing preventative measures related to IBD, learning to recognize flares early on in their course, and intervening early in the presentation of the disease or flare in a multidisciplinary approach. "

The facilities' locations are at 8000 Wolf River Blvd., Germantown, and 1325 Eastmoreland Ave., in Memphis.
