Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's new Shorb Tower at Methodist University Hospital (MUH) has opened to patients.
Construction of the 450,000-square-foot tower began in 2016 and is part of the health system's $275 million MUH campus expansion project.
The nine-story patient tower offers technology and advanced comprehensive care for transplant, cardiology, blood and marrow transplant and oncology services. There are 18 operating rooms, three of which are dedicated to transplant. Operating rooms are larger to support complex surgeries and to accommodate care collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams including our academic partners.
ORs also feature video integration which offer the capability to live-stream surgeries for education purposes as well as store surgical images and video in a patient's medical records.
